On February 20, both the Safdarjung and Palam Observatories recorded season’s highest maximum.

The Palam observatory, yesterday recorded daytime high at 29.3°C. In fact, Safdarjung Observatory was no behind in recording the maximum temperature settling at its peak this season at 29 degree Celsius, thus making the temperatures mount by almost 4 degrees Celsius from their normal levels.

Moreover, the minimums of the city as recorded by both the observatories are also hovering around 12 to 14 degrees Celsius, which are above normal.

With the increased temperatures, the weather during the day is warm. With every passing day, summer is inching closer. As per weathermen at Skymet Weather, the rise in maximum and minimum temperatures can be attributed to the prevailing Western Disturbances and its warm front.

Moreover, another contributing factor to the increased temperatures is the northwesterly moist and dry winds blowing over the region. In fact, not only Delhi, but most parts of Northwest India are also experiencing increasing temperatures.

As on February 21, Delhi is likely to witness thunderstorm activity along with cloudy weather towards the evening. However, the maximums and minimums will continue to settle above normal over the capital.
