The state of Telangana had not been seeing very heavy rains during the last few days. In fact, rains were on the lower side only.
However, in the last 24 hours, rainfall intensity has increased by manifold over the state of Telangana. So much so that some parts of the state have recorded three-digit rains and that took over the 250 mm mark.
In the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Saturday, Ramagundam in Telangana recorded a whopping 265 mm of rainfall which is the highest ever 24 hours rainfall for the city for August. The monthly mean for the city is 297.2 mm which has already been surpassed as so far Ramagundam has recorded 311 mm of rainfall after this spell.
Other parts of Telangana also saw heavy rains in the last 24 hours including Adilabad which has seen 150 mm of rains, Nizamabad 97 mm, Hanamkonda 97 mm, Najibabad 66 mm, and Khammam 43 mm.
These rains can be attributed to the presence of a trough which was extending from Odisha Coast up to Coastal Andhra Pradesh along with a cyclonic circulation over North Odisha coast. Thus, moisture incursion had been taking place over the state.
Now, as per weathermen at Skymet Weather, heavy rains will take a backseat from Telangana as the trough will weaken and the circulation is expected to move northward reducing rainfall from the state of Telangana.
Expect only light rains with a few moderate rains over Telangana during the next 24 hours.
