Mumbai rains had a very sad start in the beginning of the year but with heavy rains during Monsoon, Mumbai has surpassed its annual rainfall before the end of August itself.

The city did not see even a mm of rainfall from January until the month of May with temperatures breaking records during the month of March.

Moreover, the city of dreams did not even see any pre monsoon showers in the first ten days of June. The first time Mumbai saw some rains was on June 10, which is actually the normal date for Monsoon arrival.

These pre Monsoon showers continued for about ten days but Monsoon did not arrive until then. Monsoon made a delayed onset over the city of Mumbai by 15 days and arrived on June 25.

However, heavy rains were seen during the day end of the month due to which the city had already surpassed its monthly average.

July started with a bang and heavy rains were seen on the first few days of the month. In fact, the month of July ended with four digit rains for Mumbai.

The first few days of August saw good rains but heavy showers did take a backseat after the first ten days of the month.

Now, until today, Mumbai has recorded 2527.5 mm of rains against its annual of 2515 mm before the end of Monsoon. With more than a month left for Monsoon, these figures will only increase.

Thus, despite a delay in the arrival of Monsoon, Mumbai has easily surpassed its annual rains four months before the year ended.
