At 224 mm, Sri Ganganagar in Rajasthan breaks 45 year old record

Very heavy rains have lashed isolated pockets of Rajasthan wherein Sri Ganganagar recorded a whopping 224 mm of rains in just a span of 24 hours. All records are broken wherein the city has not seen 224 mm of rains even in the entire month of July in the last ten years. More rains have been seen in the last 3 hours, between 8:30 am and 11:30 am at 48 mm.

This rainfall figure is the highest 24 hour all time rain record for the month of July. The all time 24 hour rain record stands at 107.7 mm recorded on July 18 in 1978. Thus, the city has broken a 45 year old rain record.So far, Sri Ganganagar has recorded 379.9 mm of rains in July, which is also the highest ever.

More rains are expected to be seen over Sri ganganagar and adjoining areas of Rajasthan in the coming 24 to 36 hours. In general, Rajasthan has been above normal in terms of rains courtesy good rains both before and after the onset of Monsoon. West Rajasthan is observing a surplus of 71% of rains wherein East Rajasthan has a surplus of 26%. These rains will only add on to the surplus margins.
