At 162 mm, Godzilla rain in Lucknow breaks decade old record

Rain in Lucknow has become a usual affair as it has been a rainy week for the capital city of Uttar Pradesh. After witnessing a dry spell for about ten days or so, the city of Lucknow began to witness rains of moderate intensity.

In fact, these Monsoon showers converted into heavy rainfall on August 25 wherein the City of Nawabs witnessed a whopping 90 mm of rainfall. But it seems like that wasn’t enough, rainfall activity once again took a front seat and Lucknow recorded massive rains during the last 24 hours.

As per weathermen at Skymet Weather, these heavy rainfall activities can be attributed to the presence of a cyclonic circulation over Southeast Uttar Pradesh and adjoining areas. Due to this, moisture incursion has increased resulting in cloud development over the region.

Now, during the next 24 hours, more Monsoon showers are expected to lash the city of Lucknow. These rains will be of light to moderate intensity. The possibility of heavy rains over this region is also expected.
