At 16 degrees Celsius, Delhi gets a slight wintry flavour

October 21, 2021 7:51 PM |

Delhi has seen a drop in temperatures which has resulted in the minimum being recorded at 16 degrees, making Delhiites get a slight taste of winter.

Usually, Delhi’s normal is calculated for the month is at 19.1 degrees for October. However, when we take the 5 days of October, the last five days of October goes down to 17 degrees. Thus, temperatures go on a reducing note by the end of the month starting at a low of 22 degrees and reaches to 17 degrees by the fag end of the month.

Current temperatures are even lower than that at 16 degrees, which is why a nip in the air can be felt. Last year was colder than 2021, and minimum temperatures had touched 16 degrees on October 19 itself and the lowest was at 12.5 degrees on October 29, which is also the lowest since 2009. All time low is 9.4 degrees which happened in October 1935.

Talking about the current scenario, in the wake of the Western Disturbance, temperatures usually drop, which is what is happening at present as well. Last year, however, after the drop in temperatures, there was no rise seen after that and kept on dropping for an entire week.

Currently, a Western Disturbance is likely to approach the Western Himalayas by tomorrow, thus, temperatures will get arrested for the time being. These temperatures will only fall after the wake of the system, which will further make residents feel a wintry touch.
