Mumbai rains have seen a record breaking year in 2019 with a new history being made each day. Moreover, the city has been witnessing rains the month of June and there has been no stopping despite Southwest Monsoon withdrawing a month ago.
In fact, the city has seen rains occurring throughout October and residents believed that it was the end to Mumbai rains but come November, and the first day saw heavy rains.
On the first day, the city saw 46 mm of rains, after which rains since yesterday until 2:30 pm today have amounted to a whopping 63 mm. Thus, in the month of November, Mumbai has already recorded 109 mm of rains. These rains have been attributed to the Cyclonic Storm Maha, which has although weakened, but continues to be in proximity of the Konkan coast.
Talking about rainfall statistics in the month of November, the average rainfall amount for this month stands at just 9.9 mm. Meanwhile, the decade old record is at 77.5 mm, which was observed in the uear 2009.
To top it all, the all time high for November as far as Mumbai rains are concerned, stands at 101.3 mm, which was witnessed in the year 1979.
Thus, in just about 8 days, Mumbai has broken the all time November record, which was seen 40 years ago.
