After witnessing flooding rains during the fag end of July, August kick started with light spells. However, the rains were not continuous in nature and Rajasthan once again became dry after August 1. Since then, the desert state has not witnessed many rains.

It is almost a week after that some good rains showed up in the state. So much so that Kota in the last 24 hours even recorded three-digit rain to the tune of 103 mm. The other districts that recorded rains within the span of 08:30 am on Monday include Bundi 42 mm, Mount Abu 12 mm, Alwar and Churu both witnessed 11 mm of rains. While Jaipur witnessed very light rains of 3 mm.

As per Skymet Weather, the reason for these rains can be attributed to an upper air cyclonic circulation that is over South Pakistan and West Rajasthan. Moreover, the southwesterly winds are blowing over central and East Rajasthan. In addition, the already prevailing northwesterly winds are meeting up with the humid south westerlies.

The amalgamation of the dry north westerlies and humid south westerlies are resulting in the cloud development thus resulting in rains.

As of now, rains are likely to keep occurring over parts of Rajasthan mainly over central and eastern parts of the state for another 24-48 hours. While West Rajasthan will mainly witness light spells. Thus districts such as Kota, Jaipur, and Udaipur can brace for some more good rains while light rains may occur over Bikaner, Jaisalmer, and Barmer.
