As per Skymet Weather, these moderate to heavy rains in Northeast India can be attributed to two weather systems. One, a trough that is extending from Sub-Himalayan West Bengal to Odisha and another a cyclonic circulation over the adjoining East Bangladesh.
As of now, these moderate with isolated heavy intensity rains are expected to continue over the region for at least another two days over Assam, Meghalaya, and Tripura. Whereas, the remaining parts of Northeast India may witness scattered light showers.
Thereafter, a cyclonic circulation is likely to develop over Gangetic West Bengal which will feed in the moisture from the Bay of Bengal over West Bengal and reduce the moisture incursion from the northeastern states thereby reducing the rains.
Thus, the ‘seven sisters states’ will have to battle with moderate to heavy rains for another 2 days after which situation will improve slightly.
