Northeast India has been receiving the varied intensity of rains since many days. Due to these rains, the flood-affected regions, especially in Assam and Meghalaya, are not have been compromising on their ongoing relief operations. The other regions of the northeastern states received light to moderate rains. In the last 24 hours from 8.30 am on Thursday, Kailashahar received extremely heavy rain of 153. 2 mm, Lumding 63.6 mm, Aizwal 54 mm, Dimapur 38 mm and Tezpur 32.5 mm of rain.
In the same span of time, Silchar witnessed moderate intensity rain of 25.1 mm, Itanagar 26.8 mm and Lengpui 22 mm. Light rain was witnessed over Mazbat, North Lakhimpur, Pasighat, Cherrapunji, Shillong, and Imphal.

The cyclonic circulation which was persisting over Assam is responsible for giving these rains over parts of Northeast India. However, now this weather system has become insignificant. Also, due to the formation of a Low-Pressure Area over Odisha, moderate southwesterly winds from the Bay of Bengal will continue to feed moisture over the states of Northeast India.
On account of both the aforesaid weather systems, light to moderate rains are expected to continue at many places across Northeast India. Some districts of West Assam may experience one or two heavy spells of rains as well.
As scattered light to moderate rains are likely to keep occurring over Northeast India for the next few days, we do not anticipate much relief in the ongoing flood situations. Though, chances of extremely heavy rains over the northeastern states are ruled out.
