All the seven northeastern states are running quite rain deficient at present. Although hope nears as a Cyclonic Circulation is persisting over eastern parts of Assam and adjoining areas. An Anti-Cyclone which was over North Bay of Bengal, restricting the flow of southeasterly winds from South Bay of Bengal has now moved away. Now we expect that these winds will once again resume over the eastern states leading to increase in moisture feed. Therefore, we expect light to moderate rain and thundershower activity at many places over northeastern states until March 21.
The moisture feed will be more over Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland whereas Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura will get patchy rains. The rain intensity will reduce over the area by March 22. Thereafter, the weather will become almost clear.
There will be another spell on March 23, with moderate showers. By March 24, intensity will start reducing over entire Northeastern states.
So we can say that next three to four days are rainy days for the Northeast. After this rainy episode, we expect the rain deficiency of Northeastern states to reduce to some extent.
