After remaining subdued for 2-3 days, rains have once again picked up pace over most parts of Assam and at a few places over Manipur.
The last 24 hours also bought some good rains for Northeast India wherein in the last 24 hours from 08:30 am on Thursday, Majbat recorded 64 mm of rains, Jorhat 44 mm, Imphal 37 mm, Kailashahr 14 m, Golaghat 13 mm and Lengpui witnessed 7 m of rains.

As per Skymet Weather, humid winds from the Bay of Bengal are increasing moisture over the northeastern states of the country. On account of this, light to moderate rains are likely to make an appearance at many places over Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, and parts of Assam for at least 1-2 days.

Thereafter, rains will once again subside and the northeastern region of the country will dwell under dry days again. However, Skymet Weather further anticipates the possibility of a new fresh rainy spell to commence over most parts of Northeast India at around October 18 or 19.
These rains are likely to occur over the NMMT (Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura) region. These rains will occur due to the formation of a probable depression the central Bay of Bengalengal. This weather system will move towards Odisha and West Bengal coast and will give good rains over Northeast India.
