Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland to get more rains, hailstorm likely

While most parts of India are witnessing dry weather conditions, it is mainly the Northern Hills and Northeastern states of the country that are experiencing some light rain and thundershowers.

The last 24 hours were also no different for both the regions, wherein the hills of North India recorded some light rain and snow, parts of Northeast India too were not behind in registering some good showers on its name.

The rain activity remained mainly confined to parts of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Nagaland and a few parts of Sikkim. During the last 24 hours, heavy rains with isolated hailstorms were observed by Assam and Arunachal Pradesh.

In a span of 24 hours as on Friday, Rangia recorded heavy rains to the tune of 65 mm, Gangtok 35 mm, Majbat 28 mm, Guwahati and Pasighat both recorded 12 mm of rains each, Chaparmukh 8 mm and Kalimpong witnessed 7 mm of rains.

As per Skymet Weather, the Western Disturbance which was over North Pakistan and adjoining Jammu and Kashmir region was responsible for giving rains over these states of Northeast India.

As of now, this Western Disturbance is moving across East Tibet and a cyclonic circulation can also be marked over Assam and adjoining areas. Moreover, a trough from Sub-Himalayan West Bengal to Arunachal Pradesh also persist at the lower levels.

In the wake of this, rain and thundershowers are expected to continue at many places over Arunachal Pradesh. Hailstorms are also a chance in isolated pockets. This activity is likely to continue for the next 48 hours. The day temperatures would remain below normal over the region and morning would remain cool.

Assam may also witness scattered rain and thundershowers over the northeastern parts of the state along with chances of hailstorms. The remaining parts of the state would receive isolated activities and the activity would decrease after 24 hours.

Nagaland may also witness isolated rain and thundershowers. The day would remain mainly little warm with pleasant morning and evening. The sky would be mainly partly cloudy becoming cloudy at times. The weather would improve after 24 hours. Rest parts of Northeast India would witness dry and warm weather.
