As the first case of Coronavirus lingered in India two weeks before, the flu is spreading like wildfire. As per the recent data available with the health ministry, a total fatality count in India has reached 3 now.
Yesterday, a 63-year old patient passed away in Mumbai making it the third death due to the novel coronavirus. Apparently, he was also the first victim of coronavirus infection in Maharashtra which has reported 39 COVID-19 cases so far, highest in the country. The patient was showing symptoms like high blood pressure, pneumonia, and inflammation of heart muscles and increased heart rate. Digging deeper, the man had a history of travelling to Dubai.
The first casualty of coronavirus infection was reported from Karnataka. The second patient was a 68-year-old woman in the national capital who died at Delhi's Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital last week.
A total of 130 patients have tested positive for coronavirus in the country, as of today.
The rising number of cases has prompted the central government to ban entry of more international passengers coming to the country. The Centre today restricted the entry of passengers from Afghanistan, Philippines and Malaysia to India until March 31.
A compulsory quarantine for a minimum period of 14 days for passengers coming from UAE, Qatar, Oman, and Kuwait.
Travel of passengers from member countries of the European Union, the European Free Trade Association, Turkey and United Kingdom to India is prohibited with effect from 18th March.
All types of passenger movement via land between India, Nepal, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Bhutan, and Pakistan have been suspended.
All existing visas (except diplomatic, official, UN/International Organizations, employment, project visas) stand suspended till 15th April 2020.
All incoming travelers, including Indian nationals, arriving from or having visited China, Italy, Iran, Republic of Korea, France, Spain and Germany after 15th February, 2020 shall be quarantined for a minimum period of 14 days.
In addition to Visa restrictions already in place, passengers traveling from /having visited Italy or Republic of Korea and desirous of entering India will need certificate of having tested negative for COVID-19 from the designated laboratories.
Indian nationals are further strongly advised to refrain from travelling to China, Italy, Iran, Republic of Korea, France, Spain and Germany.
