Due to late Monsoon arrival in the Southern part of India, commencement of Monsoon in Northern region of the country includingUttar Pradeshand EastBiharis also likely to be late. There is a lag of about 3 to 4 days in Monsoon to arrive in these regions. It is expected that by 15thJune, entire Bihar along with some parts of Eastern UP will witness Monsoon rains.
Within last 24 hours, moderate rains has occurred over most parts of Bihar including foothills of Uttar Pradesh. These pre-Monsoon showers are expected to continue for another 48 hours over northern parts of Bihar and some parts of East UP.
Pockets in Bihar that received rainfall during last 24 hours include:
Bhagalpurrecorded maximum rainfall of 26 mm whilePatnawitnessed 21 mm showers. Rainy spells recorded inSupaulandPurneawere 15 mm and 11 mm respectively.
Parts of UP that witnessed light rainfall during last 24 hours wereGorakhpurthat recorded 5 mm rainfall along withJhansiandSultanpurthat recorded 1 mm showers each.
From 16thJune onward, heavy to very heavy rainfall over foothills of Bihar and UP is also predicted. Scattered rains will occur over rest of Bihar and eastern and central parts of UP. This scenario may continue till 19thor 20thJune covering entire Bihar and western parts of UP. Analyzing these increased rainy spells, it can be concluded that Monsoon is just a step away from entering Bihar and is expected to arrive by 16thor 17thJune.
By 21stJune, all the regions of UP will also witness Monsoon showers reducing the ongoing hot weather conditions. Temperature of these regions is also likely to go down and is expected to fall below 40°C mark paving way to pleasant weather conditions, giving respite from the sultry weather conditions.
