Pollution has picked an ever-growing tangent in Delhi since Diwali. Just yesterday, an air emergency was declared in the city following an overall AQI figure close to 459.
Apart from this, Delhi government has banned any construction activity in the city till November 5 apart from bursting crackers during the Winter Season. All Delhi schools have been shut till November 5.
Adding to this, the overall AQI in Delhi has increased to 480 today. This is the highest AQI Delhi has seen this year.
Following this, no relief seems in sight and we do not expect any relief from these severe conditions for the days to come. Most of the places in Delhi and NCR are witnessing pollution in ‘Severe’ to ‘Very Severe’ category. Isolated pockets are witnessing pollution in ‘hazardous’ category as well. So, a relief is in sight by November 4 when the wind speed will increase which will help in dispersing these pollutants.
By tomorrow afternoon, we expect a marginal relief from pollution in Delhi as wind speed may pick up some pace. The wind speed will increase further on November 4 and 5. This is when the ‘severe’ category pollution may come down to ‘poor’ category in some places. Although, some isolated pockets will continue to witness AQI in severe category only.
On a good note, there are chances of scattered light rains on November 7 and 8. If rain intensity is good enough, the pollutants will wash away leading to cleaner air.
