At present, a feeble Western Disturbance is moving across Jammu and Kashmir. It will affect only the higher reaches and so April will commence on a wet note in hills of North India.
A fresh Western Disturbance presently marked over Pakistan, will follow in close proximity. It will start affecting the western Himalayas from late evening of March 31. This system will also have an induced cyclonic circulation.
Scattered rain activities will commence over Jammu and Kashmir and the system will remain subdued till April 1. Thereafter, the intensity and spread of rain and thundershowers will increase. All the three hilly states of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand will receive fairly widespread rain activities. However, foothills of Punjab and West Uttar Pradesh will see only scattered rains.
On April 3, Punjab and adjoining parts of North Haryana may also receive scattered light rain and thundershowers. By next day, the Western Disturbance will gradually move away eastwards and weather will start clearing up. Isolated rain activities will continue along the foothills. Places to be affected will include Jammu, Pathankot, Chandigarh, Ambala, Hoshiarpur and Amritsar.
During the passage of the Western Disturbance, weather in Haryana, Delhi, North Rajasthan and West Uttar Pradesh may become partly cloudy to cloudy. At that point of time, both day and night temperatures will remain above normal over the region.
