April commences on a cool note in Delhi

Delhi seems to be quickly catching up with pre-monsoon thunderstorm and dust storm activity in April. Dust suspensions can be seen in the atmosphere, which will very soon change the shades of the blue sky. Moreover, Delhi-NCR stands a chance of receiving thunderstorm activity on Tuesday.

Temperature in Delhi

The month of April witnesses a gradual rise in temperatures. In the beginning of the month, maximum and minimum temperatures on an average hover around 34°C and 17°C, respectively. Day temperature rises to 36°C by April 15, and by end of the month they could easily touch 40°C. Similarly, minimum temperature rises to 24°C, as we bid farewell to April.

At present, days are fairly warm but the nights get unusually cold. After the recent spell of rain, temperatures in the national capital took a plunge. Night temperature settled at 17.4°C (2 degrees below normal) on Monday morning. Maximum temperature is also 4 degrees below normal, around 30°C. However, warmer days lie ahead for Delhiites and day temperature on Tuesday could rise to touch 32°C.

Rain in Delhi

The Safdarjung and Palam Observatories have already surpassed their respective monthly average rainfall. While the former has received 21 mm of rain so far, the latter recorded 35 mm of rain. Meanwhile, Delhiites should brace themselves for another spell of thunderstorm accompanied by light rain tomorrow.
