February 13, 2016 4:55 PM |

Rain in Central IndiaIsolated rain activity was witnessed over Chhattisgarh and Odisha during last few days. Now a confluence zone is developing over Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand and Odisha. Dry winds from the Gangetic plains are merging with warm and humid winds from the Bay of Bengal.

Due to this merging of opposite winds, cloud development is expected over the area, which may give scattered rain and thundershower activities.

Sometimes during this season, convective clouds also form which may give thundershowers with strong winds. Gradually, this prevailing rainfall activity will increase and a confluence zone will develop over Central India.

Rain and thundershowers are likely at many places over North and East Madhya Pradesh including Chhattisgarh by February 16 and 17.

The parts of Central India which were observing dry weather conditions since the beginning of the month, will now receive some good showers. It will be good for Rabi crops as the soil moisture will be restored. Rainfall is very rare during this time of the year but sometimes induced cyclonic circulations will travel from Rajasthan towards Madhya Pradesh, giving rain over Central India.
