It has been raining heavily over the hills of the North mainly over Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. At present, the Trough is running along the foothills running from Punjab across Haryana, foothills of Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh and then towards Northeast states. In the past 24 hours, the Monsoon remained active over most parts of Himachal Pradesh. Heavy spells were seen in districts like Bilaspur recorded 70 mm of rains, Una 47 mm with moderate rains over Shimla 24 mm, Nahan and adjoining areas. The southern parts of Uttarakhand also remained active and witnessed heavy spells especially over Nainital and adjoining areas. In the last 24 hours, Pantnagar recorded 18 mm and Dehradun 12 mm,
The Trough will continue to pass along the foothills during the next 24 hours. Hence, the southern parts of Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand will receive moderate rainfall at many places with few heavy spells. At the same time, northern parts of Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand will receive light rains at many places with few moderate spells.
As per the experts, moderate rains will continue over Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand for the next two to three days, thus deficiency may recover marginally. Whereas, yesterday, Monsoon remained deficit in Himachal Pradesh by 40% and in Uttarakhand by 41%. Landslides and flash flooding are a chance at few parts.
Places like Dharamshala, Shimla, Nahan, and Solan in Himachal Pradesh while Dehradun, Nainital, Mussoorie Rishikesh and Pantnagar in Uttarakhand will get to see moderate to heavy rains for next two to three days.
