After a short break, rain and snow is expected to lash Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and parts of Uttarakhand again. A fresh Western Disturbance is likely to affect North India in the next 24 hours.
According to Skymet Meteorology Division in India, the system is presently prevailing over North Pakistan and is moving eastwards. It has caused light clouding over the hilly states of North India.
With the system approaching the region, Srinagar that has remaianed devoid of any snow till now, is again hopeful of witnessing a white cover. Meanwhile, other famous tourist destination like Gulmarg, Pahalgam, Manali, Shimla, Kufri and Mussoorie stand very good chance of observing a good spell of snowfall.
In wake of the system, maximum temperatures are expected to fall while minimum temperatures are likely to rise marginally.
However, northern plains will remain unaffected. According to Skymet, light clouding will be observed over North Punjab, Haryana and adjoining northwest Uttar Pradesh due to the system but will not witness any rain.
This is the third consecutive system affecting in the last two weeks. The earlier Western Disturbance, which affected the region around January 21, was an active one and had given widespread heavy snow and rain across the hills and plains of North India.
Western Disturbances become frequent during winters and are responsible for affecting the weather in the region to a large extent. These systems after approaching the region usually stay for 1-2 days and give short spells of rain. The system is called Western Disturbance due to its movement from west to east.
