Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh have been witnessing good Monsoon rains for the last few days. All thanks to the back to back weather systems developing over or around the region.
Off late one such system has been affecting weather over both the neighbouring states, bringing moderate to heavy showers. The low pressure area over Southeast Uttar Pradesh, which has now weakened into a cyclonic circulation had traveled from East India towards the central region of the country.
In span of 21 hours from 8:30 am on Tuesday, Satna has recorded 138 mm of rain, while Pendra received 41 mm of rain.
Further, the system will continue to move in west direction, increasing intensity of rain over North Madhya Pradesh and West Uttar Pradesh.
Meanwhile, Chhattisgarh will also continue to observe good Monsoon rains but on account of the depression in North Bay of Bengal. The system is likely to move inland anytime now and move in northwest direction, giving rains over parts of Odisha, Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand.
At present, Madhya Pradesh is witnessing excess Monsoon rains, while Chhattisgarh is observing perfect normal rains. As on August 16, West Madhya Pradesh was rain surplus by 40%, East Madhya Pradesh 27% and Chhattisgarh 0%.
With more rain in sight for Chhattisgarh, we expect the state will also soon fall into the category of excess Monsoon rainfall.
