Another rainy spell likely in Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Rajasthan, and West Uttar Pradesh

March 13, 2020 9:37 AM | Skymet Weather Team

For the past few days, the northern districts of Punjab, as well as Haryana, have been experiencing moderate to heavy rain and thundershowers. In fact, a day before yesterday also, a few parts of Punjab experienced light rain and thundershowers.

At present, a Western Disturbance is lying over Jammu and Kashmir. And, its induced Cyclonic circulation is over Punjab and Haryana.

In the wake of the above-mentioned weather system, today we expect heavy rain along with thunderstorm activities to continue in the northern districts of Punjab and Haryana. However, the southern districts of Punjab and Haryana, West Uttar Pradesh, North Rajasthan, and Delhi are expected to remain dry.

By the late-night hours of today, the rainfall activities will start increasing in the remaining parts of Punjab, and Haryana. Isolated hailstorm activities associated with strong surface winds are likely in the Northern districts of Punjab as well as Haryana.

We can clearly say it as the upcoming spell of rain is going to be the second rainy spell of March in the Northern plains.

From tomorrow onwards, we expect North Rajasthan and Delhi to record rain and thundershowers. These weather activities are expected to continue until the evening hours of March 14. But at the same time intensity of the rains will go down marginally, and only patchy rains are likely to be seen.

On March 15, the Western Disturbance will move away eastwards. Also, the cyclonic circulation will fade away.

Thus, in the absence of any significant weather systems, we expect clear weather conditions along to prevail in the entire plains of North India. And, the maximums will start rising once again.
