During the last 24 hours, light to moderate rain and thundershowers have occurred in many parts of South Odisha and Chhattisgarh. While the northern parts of these states remained warm and humid.

According to the data available with Skymet, Jagdalpur has recorded 22 mm of rainfall, followed by Gopalpur 20 mm, Bhubaneswar 16.4 mm, Bhawanaipatna 5 mm of rainfall, in the last 24 hours, from 8:30 am on Saturday.

These weather conditions were a result of an upper air Trough which is extending from Odisha up to Andhra Pradesh.

As this Trough will persist for another 48 hours, rain and thundershower activities will continue over the states of Odisha and Chhattisgarh. Places like Jagdalpur, Durg, Raipur, Narayanpur, Koraput, Rayagada, Navrangpur, Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Ganjam and Malkangiri may get to see light to moderate rain and thundershowers for the next two to three days. These rains would be beneficial for the Paddy crops grown in these areas.

On the other hand, places like Titlagarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Pendra Road, Ambikapur, Sundergarh, and Bilaspur will remain dry and warm. The absence of rain may affect the cropping system in this region.

Moreover, in the wake of these activities, the maximums will drop over the southern parts of these states, however, the day temperatures may slightly increase over the northern areas.
