Widespread rain clears fog in North India

Delhiites woke up to a fog free but rainy morning on Thursday. All areas including Dwarka, Indirapuram, Model Town, Vikaspuri, Noida Expressway, Lajpat Nagar and others observed a fog free morning. Palam Airport also observed good weather conditions with visibility at 1000 meters.

Most parts of the country also observed fair weather conditions with good visibility in majority of cities. Amritsar observed clear weather conditions with the visibility settling at a good 4000 meters. Jaipur observed foggy conditions accompanied by light rain. The visibility in the city was recorded at 400 meters.

Some parts of Uttar Pradesh including Lucknow and Varanasi also observed shallow fog with visibility at 650 meters and 600 meters, respectively. Gaya in Bihar also observed shallow fog with visibility settling at 500 meters. Clear weather conditions were observed in Kolkata with good visibility of 1200 meters.

Due to clear weather conditions at the Palam airport, only one flight was cancelled. However, 12 flights in departures and 4 flights in arrivals were delayed.

Nonetheless, Rail Traffic was hit hard with 69 trains running way behind scheduled. Some of the delays include Nandan Kanan Express (New Delhi – Puri) by 8 hrs, Sampark Kranti Express (New Delhi – Ranchi) by 7 hrs, Brahmaputra Express (Old Delhi – Dibrugarh) by 13 hrs, Koaa Express (Anand Vihar – Kolkata) by 8 hrs, and Purshottam Express (New Delhi – Puri) by 14 hrs. Also, Purshottam Express running from Puri to New Delhi was delayed by 6 hrs.
