Another cyclonic circulation, formed in the Bay of Bengal, follows soon after the previous one which brought heavy showers at central, south and west India last week.
Though not as strong as the previous cyclonic circulation, this system is expected to give moderate to heavy rain along Andhra and Orissa coast. “We have forecast moderate to heavy rains of up to 50mm at the coast of Andhra Pradesh and Orissa only till tomorrow. It may then enter west Madhya Pradesh and bring moderate rain there. Heavy rain could only be in a pocket or two since the system is not very strong this time, informs Mahesh Palawat, head of the forecasting team at Skymet Weather.
The cyclonic circulation in the Bay last week brought heavy to very heavy showers at many places including Surat -178mm, Nagpur -145mm, Hyderabad- 86mm and Ahmedabad- 60mm.
“This time the system may continue for another 72hours or more but with a weaker strength and rain figures may rarely touch or cross 100mm, Palawat further added.
Currently the low pressure area is at the Andhra coast. It may move in the northward direction towards central India and then could take a U-turn towards Chhattisgarh, east Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.
“This has been and will continue to be an active and vigorous monsoon all over India with little deficit at very few locations. Therefore cyclonic circulations such as this may continue to form in the sea during the entire monsoon season. To counter any conditions of severe weather, the need of the hour is to be weather- wise”, talks Jatin Singh, CEO of Skymet Weather Services.
