Due to the Convective clouds developing over Andhra Pradesh, places such as  Anantapur, Chittoor, East Godavari, Guntur, Kadapa, Nellore, Prakasam and West Godavari districts are likely to receive moderate rain and thundershowers. Strong average winds of 30 kmph gusting at 50 kmph during the next 6 to 8 hours are also predicted.

Temperature recorded till 08:30 am on Wednesday morning was 39°C which was 1 degree above normal however the minimum temperature recorded was 25°C that was 1 degree below normal. Generally, cloudy sky, with one or two spells of rain or thundershowers, is expected for the next 3 days.

Most places of Andhra Pradesh have received moderate to heavy rainfall during last 24 hrs. Bapatla has recorded 58 mm, Machalipatnam recorded 40 mm, Kurunoor recorded 18mm, Tuni recorded 16 mm, Kawalai recorded 12 mm and Kakinada 8 mm. These rains occurred due to a cyclonic circulation which is over west central Bay of Bengal and adjoining south Andhra Pradesh. This cyclonic circulation will persist and we expect good rain to continue over coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalseema for another 2 to 3 days. A fall in the temperature is also expected.

After 10th June, rain activities may subside temporarily but soon after Monsoon rains will pick up pace and after covering most parts of south Karnataka, they will start affecting parts of Rayalseema and south coastal Andhra Pradesh. It is only after around the end of the 2nd week of June, we can conclude that on and off rain will continue throughout the month over the state. Moreover, these rains are beneficial for the prep of kharif crops particularly paddy growing farmers.
