Ongoing rain activities over the southern Peninsula will significantly reduce and weather will become almost dry with isolated light rain. The wind shear zone has become less marked and there is no significant weather system either over the Bay of Bengal or the Arabian Sea. Almost all the meteorological divisions of the South Peninsula are either normal or in excess rain category. Telangana is large excess and Kerala is deficient.
This dry spell for southern States may extend for more than one week. We expect that the overall rain surplus of 10% for the south Peninsula will come down by the end of the first week of August. The chances of the revival of monsoon seem to be bleak for South India for at least the next 10 days. Although rain activity will reduce over Telangana as well the weather is expected to go dry for Telangana from August 5th. Until then, isolated rain may continue over Telangana.
Monsoon is expected to remain active over Indo Gangetic plains during next week. On the other hand in the absence of any significant weather system, the south Peninsula will witness weak monsoon conditions.
