South coastal Andhra Pradesh has been receiving on and off moderate to heavy rains for the last two to three days. During the last 24 hours also, places like Tirupati, Nellore etc have received similar rains. While Ongole received 47 mm of rains during the last 24 hours, Kavali 21 mm, Nellore 22 mm and Tirupati recorded 20 mm rains.
However, rain activities over Rayalaseema remained on a lower side which received only light to moderate rains.
Just yesterday, Northeast Monsoon finally made an onset over the state.
Today also we expect moderate rains with one or two heavy spells to continue over southern and coastal parts of Andhra Pradesh. However, from tomorrow onward the rain activities will start seeing a reduction over some parts of Andhra Pradesh. This reduction will be due to the formation of a Low Pressure Area over the Arabian Sea as this new system will lead to a concentration of moisture around itself.
Rain activities will first start reducing over coastal Andhra Pradesh. On the other hand, Rayalaseema may witness a marginal increase in rain activities after 24 hours on October 18. Thereafter, rain activities will reduce over entire Andhra Pradesh.
By October 20, the Low Pressure Area will travel towards the Northeast Arabian Sea, thus activating the Monsoon surge over Andhra Pradesh. These rains might reappear again on October 20. Thereafter, the rain intensity will increase and light to moderate rains with a few heavy spells are likely.
