Foggy mornings have become a regular feature in many parts of Uttar Pradesh. So much so that many cities have been witnessing visibility below the 50 metre-mark for quite some time now. Saturday morning was no different and several parts of Uttar Pradesh witnessed very dense fog once again.

Amritsar, which was observing better visibility for the last two days saw a steep drop with very dense fog making a comeback. Here, conditions were really bad today and the visibility had dropped to nil. Giving it company was Varanasi where similar weather conditions were observed and the visibility here was also nil.

The saga of dense fog continued over the capital city of Uttar Pradesh, Lucknow. The visibility here was once again witnessed at 50 metres. Gorakhpur joined the gang with similar visibility today at a mere 50 metres.

Conditions at Agra were no different and very dense fog was observed here with the visibility dropping to 100 metres. Other areas adjoining these cities also observed similar conditions.

This change in weather conditions can be attributed to the presence of a Western Disturbance which is currently over North Jammu and Kashmir. Due to this, wind pattern has changed from northwesterly to easterly resulting in foggy mornings over the aforementioned cities.

As far as East and Northeast India are concerned, Kolkata recorded shallow fog with the visibility being recorded at 600 metres. Agartala also witnessed 600 metres of visibility today. Due to these conditions, at least 165 trains are running late across the country. Fog will persist during the next 24 hours as well.
