During the last 24 hours, the northern districts of Punjab have recorded moderate to heavy rains. Amritsar, Ludhiana, Patiala, Ambala in Haryana, Chandigarh and Karnal recorded 37 mm, 52 mm, 38 mm, 49 mm, 22 mm and 4 mm of rains, respectively.
These rains were in the wake of a Trough which is extending from Punjab up to Northeast India across North Haryana. Moreover, a Cyclonic Circulation is also persisting over Central Pakistan and adjoining Punjab.
Now, this Trough will persist and would gradually shift to North. Hence, more spells will be a sight for the next 24 to 48 hours over the northern districts of these states. Thereafter, the Trough will start shifting South and then many more parts of Punjab and Haryana will get to see light to moderate rain and thundershower with isolated heavy spells. This will be the revival of Monsoon over the Northern Plains in wake of the southward movement of the seasonal Trough.
Hence, we can say that until July 20, intermittent rain and thundershowers will be a sight over Punjab and Haryana. There are chances that the intensity of rains might take a dip around July 19 or July 20, but still, pleasant weather will continue, and mercury is likely to remain comfortable.
