Amritsar, Ludhiana, Chandigarh, Ambala to observe cold day conditions for another 48 hours

January 29, 2018 3:23 PM |

Punjab WeatherThe Northwestern Plains remained fog free for a long time. However, isolated pockets of Punjab and Haryana were still reeling under foggy conditions.

However, rains, which made an appearance on January 22 and 23, were responsible in making Punjab and Haryana fog free. Due to these conditions, day temperatures also increased over these states during that time.

However, dense to very dense fog made a comeback once again on January 26, i.e. Republic day. Since then, the states have been observing foggy mornings. Thus, day temperatures began to dip once again, leading to cold day conditions in many parts of Punjab and some parts of Haryana.

Yesterday, the maximum temperature in many parts of Punjab and Haryana are as follows: Amritsar 13.5°C, Ludhiana 14.7°C, Chandigarh 14.9°C, and Ambala 15.7°C.

Now, this dense fog condition is expected to continue for another two days. Therefore, cold day conditions will persist for at least the next 48 hours.

Thereafter, temperatures will witness a rise due to decreased intensity of fog and increased sunshine hours. So much so that the maximum temperatures are expected to rise by two to four degrees Celsius. With this change in the temperatures, days over the states of Punjab and Haryana are likely to become warm and comfortable.
