As winter has made its official onset over the entire country, foggy mornings have become a regular feature in several areas. The plains of North India as well as several parts of Central India are under the tight grip of very dense fog. So much so that several areas have reported visibility of less than 150 metres or so.
On the second consecutive day, Amritsar in Punjab reported nil visibility. As per weathermen at Skymet, similar conditions are expected to prevail during the next few days as well. Fog remained very dense fog over Gwalior with the visibility being at a mere 50 metres.
Dense fog was also reported at Lucknow with the visibility being at 100 metres. Allahabad reported a visibility of 400 metres with the fog being moderate.
On the other hand, conditions were slightly better in Northeast India with Guwahati recording a visibility of 500 metres, Imphal 550 metres, and Agartala at 800 metres.
Not only this, very dense fog was also reported at Pakistan with Lahore reporting a visibility of a mere 50 metres during the early morning hours.
At least 140 flights have been delayed in the entire country with over 20 flights being either delayed or cancelled in Delhi and the NCR region alone. 140 trains were also cancelled across the country due to dense fog.
