Light rains finally eliminated the elongated dry spell that prevailed in parts of North India for over a month. All thanks to the active Western Disturbance which brought light rains to most parts of North India.
These rains drenched parts of Punjab, Haryana, and Rajasthan and some light showers that are expected to continue for the next 24 hours as well. Though these rains spared Delhi and NCR also including Chandigarh and Jaipur in the last 24 hours, the National Capital and its surrounding regions are expected to witness some light and patchy spells today.
Within the span of 24 hours from 08:30 am as on Tuesday, Sri Ganganagar recorded 5.6 m of rains, Amritsar 2.8 mm, Hisar 2.7 mm, Bikaner 0.8 mm and Ludhiana recorded 0.2 mm of rains.

In the wake of these two weather systems, the states such as Punjab, Haryana, and parts of West Rajasthan received light traces of rains. Skymet Weather further reiterates that such kind of light rains is likely to continue over Punjab and Haryana, mainly the northern districts of Haryana for the next 24 hours. However, the rain activity over Rajasthan is expected to reduce.
Delhi and the adjoining Noida, Gurugram, Ghaziabad, and Faridabad are also likely to receive patchy showers that will mainly be confined to shorter regions by evening today. Due to these light patchy rains, the pollution levels are though expected to improve.
However, the nature of these rains will be light, patchy, and will be short-lived. Mainly cloudy to the overcast sky is likely to prevail over these regions and the drop-in maximum will give the feel of the first winter-chill in most parts of North India.
