Plains of northern India have been under the influence of on and off fog from quite a long time. From observing heavy fog shrouding the region to witnessing fog-free mornings, northern plains of the country has seen both extremes.
Today as well, while most of the areas in the northern plains have remained fog-free, a few regions including one or two places in North India did observe moderate to shallow fog which has led to a reduced visibility as well.
The visibility recorded at Amritsar early morning today was nil, leading to very dense fog over the Golden Temple city. Meanwhile, Agra recorded the visibility dropping to 800 meters. Agartala too observed moderate fog with a visibility of 600 meters.
As reiterated by Skymet weather, the reason for the fog to have made its appearance once again in isolated pockets of North India can be accredited to the recent occurrence of light rains at a few parts of northwest plains including Delhi and NCR. These rains caused the humidity levels to rise thereby leading the minimum temperatures to plunge once again.
Moreover, the light speed of winds too played its part in causing the fog to show up once again.
As of now, the similar weather is likely to continue over North India and most parts of northern plains are expected to continue witnessing foggy mornings for another 24-48 hours.
