Last week, the plains of North India witnessed clear mornings. Fog had abated from most parts. So much so that good visibility was being observed over many parts. These weather conditions were attributed to the presence of active Western Disturbances over the Western Himalayas.

However, during the last few days, foggy mornings have once again made a comeback over the plains of North India. Poor visibility has become a common affair over these parts. Even today, dense to very dense fog recorded over several parts.

Both Allahabad and Amritsar witnessed very dense fog with the visibility dropping to nil. Not only this, Varanasi also reported nil visibility. Patna in Bihar also reported very dense fog with the visibility of 50 metres. Gorakhpur was no better as dense fog shrouded the region as the visibility dropped to 100 metres.

Moderate fog was reported in both Bhubaneshwar and Lucknow with the visibility being reported at 200 and 400 metres, respectively. The national capital witnessed moderate fog with the visibility being observed at 400 metres.

Shallow fog was also reported in several areas including Gaya at 600 metres and Agartala at 900 metres. In view of foggy mornings, at least 10 flights were delayed to and from the Indira Gandhi Airport in Delhi. Trains were also affected with at least 70 running late.

These conditions are likely to remain the same during the next 24 hours as well.
