Many parts of Maharashtra are reeling under heatwave conditions. Places like Akola, Amravati, Buldana in Vidarbha along with Ahmednagar in North Madhya Maharashtra are under the grip of heatwave.
In fact, most parts of the state are recording temperatures 40°C or even above that. These are above normal by two to four degrees. Only coastal areas are in lower to mid 30s. While, high humidity over these areas results in feel like temperatures are around 38°C-39°C. Despite of these high temperatures, parts of Vidarbha, Marathwada and South Madhya Maharashtra have been receiving intermittent rain and thundershower activities.
Since these are Pre-Monsoon activities, timing of these rain and thundershowers are generally during late afternoon or evening hours. Until that time, the temperatures already touch their peak. Hence, no affect is being witnessed in maximums. Therefore, no significant relief is foreseen in the coming days as well.
A trough and the confluence zone which were persisting over East Madhya Pradesh to Karnataka across Vidarbha and Marathwada would gradually move away eastward leading to dry weather conditions over Maharashtra after 24 hours.
The only good affect of these activities could be seen in night temperatures as the weather activities occur during late afternoon or evening hours. Thus, nights turn out to be pleasant and comfortable. Today also we can expect short spell of rain and thunder showers at some parts with strong gusty winds over Ahmadnagar, Akola, Amravati, Aurangabad, Bhandara, Beed, Buldana, Chandrapur, Gadchiroli, Hingoli, Jalgaon, Jalna, Latur, Nagpur, Nanded, Nashik, Osmanabad, Parbhani, Pune, Sangli, Satara, Solapur, Wardha, Washim and Yavatmal.
