Ambala, Karnal, Kurukshetra, Panipat braces for more rains

Haryana has not been much fortunate in terms of receiving good Monsoon rains in the month of July. Apart from recording a few occasional light or moderate showers during the first few days of the month, otherwise heavy rains have refrained themselves from occurring over the state.

But the month of August brought some rainy spells with itself. Most parts of the state have been recording rains from the last 48 hours. The rain intensity shot up in the last 24 hours and the light spells were taken over by some good moderate showers. Within the span of 24 hours from 08:30 am on Tuesday, Karnal witnessed 24.4 mm of rains, Narnaul 9 mm, Ambala 5 mm and Hisar recorded light traces of 2.4 mm only.

In fact, the present weather scenario is cloudy in most parts of the state and is giving an impression of some rains to follow soon. Stations such as Ambala, Jind, Kaithal, Karnal, Kurukshetra, Panipat, and Yamuna Nagar are expected to witness few spells of rain and thunder shower with gusty wind in the next 4 hours.

The northward shifting of the Axis of the Monsoon trough which is now running from South Punjab to Assam across Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and Bihar is the main reason for these rains, states Skymet Weather. Moreover, a fresh Western Disturbance that is seen over North Pakistan and adjoining Jammu and Kashmir also added to these rains.

In addition to this, the Axis of Monsoon Trough is likely to remain around the same area with slight oscillation towards the south. Thus, moderate rains are likely to continue lashing the northern districts of the state in contrast with the southern regions such as Palwal, Jhajjar, Rohtak, Bhiwani and Sirsa that can brace for some light spells only. These rains are likely to continue for the next 2-3 days.
