Allahabad, Varanasi to receive good Monsoon showers

Southwest Monsoon has been pouring good rains over the state of Uttar Pradesh. At present southeast Uttar Pradesh is receiving better rains in comparison to other parts of the state. In the last 24 hours from 8.30 am on Saturday, Bahraich recorded 23.6 mm, Jhansi 15.2 mm, Sultanpur 10.6 mm, Banda 7 mm, Moradabad 8.4 mm, Agra 6.6 mm of Monsoon rain. Varanasi, Kanpur and Gorakhpur also witnessed light rainy spells.

These rains can be attributed to the multiple weather systems over the region. An axis of Monsoon trough is passing from Jaisalmer, the center of Low’s, East Rajasthan, Sidhi, Bankura, Canning and is moving towards east southeastwards to the northeast Bay of Bengal. Another cyclonic circulation is over Bangladesh, West Bengal and adjoining Northwest Bay of Bengal.

It is anticipated that light to moderate intensity rains is likely over Varanasi, Mirzapur, Chandausa, Gazipur, Mau, Johnpur and Allahabad. These rains will continue for the next 24 to 48 hours. At present pleasant weather conditions prevail across the state and temperatures are also likely to remain below across the state of Uttar Pradesh.

Presently, East Uttar Pradesh is rain deficit by 2 percent and West Uttar Pradesh is rain deficit by 9 percent. With these on going rainy spells the rain deficiency is likely to reduce over the state.
