Pre-Monsoon showers have begun to make appearances over the state of Uttar Pradesh. Few districts of Uttar Pradesh, particularly the foothills have recorded light to moderate rainfall during the last 24 hours.
In a span of 24 hours from 08:30 am on Monday, Bahraich recorded 22 mm of rainfall, while Gorakhpur witnessed 12 mm of showers.
The reason for these rain and thundershowers over Uttar Pradesh can be attributed to a trough that is extending from Punjab to West Bengal via Uttar Pradesh.
As per Skymet Weather, good rain and thundershowers are likely over many parts of East and Central Uttar Pradesh by today. Place like Gorakhpur, Varanasi, Allahabad, Sultanpur may see some spell of showers. Owing to this, the weather will become comfortable with drop in temperatures.

Now, as the trough will persist, rain and thundershowers is expected to increase over Uttar Pradesh. During the next 24 to 48 hours, light to moderate rains and thundershowers may occur over many districts of Uttar Pradesh. However, the intensity will be more over northern parts of Uttar Pradesh, particularly along the foothills.

High temperatures will dwindle and many parts of Uttar Pradesh will record above normal maximum in the lower 40s to mid-40s. Temperatures will register drop by 4 to 5°C. Thus, that much needed relief from the hot weather is foreseen.
