Delhi continues with a prolonged spell of dry and warm days.  The Minimum temperature has risen again and the day mercury also maintains above the average. The Base station at Safdarjung recorded a low of 18°C, a rise of 1°C, since yesterday and 4°C above the pentad normal. Temperature is unlikely to drop to offer the feel of a nip in the air.  Not to mention of rain, even clouds are not likely over the next few days.

An anticyclone over Rajasthan is in place, driving dry northwesterly winds over Delhi in the lower levels. However, the mountains have hardly any snow so far, to make this stream cool and chilly. There is no active weather system approaching and so, no signs of any rains in the plains of North India, including Delhi. A weak western disturbance is arriving on 13th Nov but the weather activity will remain mild and also confine to the mid and higher reaches of the mountains. Snowfall, if any, will not be adequate to send the wave of cold air, down the slopes of Jammu & Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh.

November, as such is the least rainiest month of North India. After the withdrawal of southwest monsoon, the dry spell begins from October itself and the jinx gets broken, sometime in December. Of course, there are exceptions of active weather systems raiding, sometime in November, as well. But, the number remains rather low and ineffective too.

Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and the hilly states of J&K and Himachal Pradesh have observed a large deficit in the seasonal weather activity. October was the warmest on record for Delhi and November, so far, is no less. The mean minimum temperature in the first week stands at 17.3°C, a huge rise of 2.3°C from the normal of 15°C. The mercury is expected to hold between 16°-18°C till mid-November and remain above normal by a similar margin. The first half of November will surpass, the earlier margin of warmth in October. No weather activity is expected for the next 2 weeks over Delhi and suburbs.
