For the last one-week, Ajmer has been witnessing heavy rains. On three occasions –July 27, July 28 and August 1 the intensity was very heavy. A total of 64 mm rain was recorded on July 27, while on July 28 the city observed 55 mm of good rain.
Today (August 1) the intensity of rain was rather higher. The city recorded 114 mm of rain in a span of just six hours (between 8:30 and 14:30 hrs). In fact, 112 mm rain was recorded in a span of three hours between 8:30 and 11:30 hrs.
These heavy rains have disrupted day to day life with commuters and travellers bearing the maximum brunt.
The rain intensity is set to decrease now as the axis of Monsoon Trough that was passing via Ajmer during the morning hours has now shifted slightly northwards and is passing through Jaipur. Therefore, the intensity is set to go down. However, on and off rains may continue.
In the next two to three days, Ajmer may continue to observe light rains, but such heavy rains are ruled out for at least the next two to three days.
