Rajasthan has been witnessing a myriad of weather conditions for quite some time now. While, some areas have been observing heatwave conditions for the last few days, others have been witnessing isolated dust storm, rain accompanied with hailstorm and a thunderstorm.
The mercury has been settling close to the 45-degree mark and almost all parts of the state were observing maximums above the normal levels. But much to the relief of people, some good pre-Monsoon rains have appeared over the city.
During the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Monday, Ajmer has recorded very heavy rains to the tune 61 mm. So far in this season, this is the highest spell.
Till now in March, Ajmer has recorded 87.6 mm of rain in comparison to the monthly average rain of 22.1 mm. These heavy showers were a result of the formation of thunderclouds over the city. A Cyclonic Circulation has been prevailing over Central Pakistan and a trough is extending from this system to the Bay of Bengal across Madhya Pradesh.
Due to these systems, moist winds from the Arabian Sea had increased the moisture over these areas and temperatures were already very high. High winds and increased temperatures enhanced the cloud formation which resulted in intense showers.
