Air Quality in Delhi breaches 300 for the first time this season, expect conditions to worsen further

For the first time this season, Delhi’s Air Quality Index has breached the 300 mark. The worst part is that it doesn’t seem like it will go down any further and in fact, they may soar even further in the next couple of days.

Weather conditions are not favouring either, particularly the national capital is witnessing cloudy weather conditions. Along with this, a Western Disturbance is over the western Himalayas and will now start clearing up, which will cause a change in wind pattern. Not only this, winds will remain light and because of the changeover, day temperatures will remain close to the normal levels.

The passage of the Western Disturbance will cause a drop in temperatures which will further make the pollution denser since lower temperatures do not allow the pollutants lift further.

Thus, no weather parameters are in favour for pollution levels to bring down. In addition to all this, tomorrow being Diwali, the bursting of firecrackers will further add to the pollution levels which will worsen the situation all the more. In fact, pollution levels over Delhi may be in the hazardous levels. Thus, for the next three days, Delhiites need to remain alert as air quality will only deteriorate in the coming weekend.
