Ahmedabad witnesses unusual weather

People across Ahmedabad city is witnessing unusual weather conditions these days, as maximum temperature has been recording below normal. While, nights are pleasant with minimum temperatures settling around normal.

During the month of March, the city usually observes hot weather conditions with maximum temperatures settling in high 30’s, sometimes even reaching up to 40°C also. But this year, weather has been slightly different.

On March 18, Ahmedabad observed day temperature of 33.4°C, against the normal of 35.7°C. Similarly, 32.4°C on March 17 and 31°C on March 16.

According to Skymet Meteorology Division in India, back to back induced cyclonic circulations have given good rain over Ahmedabad, which had resulted in a drop in both maximum and minimum temperatures.

The city has recorded 26.4 mm of rain, so far, surpassing the monthly average of 0.5 mm. It has also broken the all-time high record, which was 21.1 mm of rain in March, 1967.

As per Skymet, the temperature are now crawling back to the normal, however it will be a gradual increase only as cold north-westerlies are still blowing over the region.

This prolonged spell of below normal temperature is here to stay, as a result Ahmedabad may witness coldest March in last couple of years.
