Since last three to four days, rains have once again begun over many areas of Gujarat. However, the intensity of these rains is mainly light though a few districts have also received moderate rains. Heavy rains are ruled out over the state.
This clearly indicates the incessant rains that were witnessed during the third week of July triggering massive floods have not made a comeback to Gujarat yet.
The reason for these rains could be attributed to the persistence of a cyclonic circulation over Northeast Arabian Sea and adjoining Kutch region.
In the last 24 hours from 8.30 am on Thursday, Bhavnagar received 20 mm of rain, followed by Okha 10 mm, Rajkot 8 mm, Idar 6 mm, Baroda 5 mm, Deesa 5 mm and Surat 2 mm of rain.

With these rains, temperatures have again reduced and are settling near normal across the districts. Skymet Weather expects scattered light rains to continue over many parts of Gujarat such as Ahmedabad, Rajkot, Surat, Bhavnagar, Bharuch, and Amreli.
