The month of September brought no good news for the residents of Ahmedabad.

In fact, it seemed like the rain gods were slightly miffed with the residents of this city of Gujarat. While many parts of Gujarat were receiving on and off rains, it was Ahmedabad which continued to witness mostly dry weather conditions.

Now, rain gods have developed some liking towards Ahmedabad, and the first spell of heavy Monsoon showers have lashed the city during the month of September. During the last 21 hours from 8:30 am on Sunday to 5:30 am today, Ahmedabad received a whopping 46 mm of rain.

These Monsoon showers can be attributed to the upper air cyclonic circulation which is at present over southwest Madhya Pradesh and adjoining Gujarat and North Madhya Maharashtra. During the next 24 hours as well, the city is expected to receive a few more spells of Monsoon showers.

So far, in the month of September, Ahmedabad has recorded 61.4 mm of rainfall against its monthly average of 86.8 mm. More Monsoon rains are expected to lash the city of Ahmedabad, which means that surpassing the monthly mean this year should not be a problem. Last year in September, Ahmedabad has only been able to receive 79.2 mm in the entire month.
