Gujarat Rains

Ahmedabad has been witnessing dry spell for a long time. It’s been more than a fortnight that rains have blessed the city. Though rains have occurred in other parts of Gujarat in the last 24 hours and districts like Surat, Amreli and Porbandar recorded some spells but Ahmedabad only settled with dust storm.

As reiterated by Skymet Weather, now rains are foreseen to drench Ahmedabad during the late afternoon or evening hours today. A feeble trough is seen running from South Pakistan to South Gujarat Coast. Moreover, moderate winds from the Arabian Sea are also reaching over most parts of Gujarat.

On account of this weather system, there will be a slight increase in the humidity levels. Thus, leading to the development of clouds and finally resulting in rains. Hence, Ahmedabad stands slight chances to witness scattered rain, thundershowers along with dust storm activities today. At present also, the city is witnessing partly cloudy sky.

Due to the above-mentioned trough, in the last 24 hours from 08:30 am on Thursday, Amreli recorded 23 mm of rains, Surat 2 mm and Porbandar 1 mm. Moreover, as per Skymet Weather, counting from today, on and off showers are expected to continue for a week over most parts of Gujarat.

Thereafter, by June 14-15, the intensity of rains are likely to increase over districts like Ahmedabad, Rajkot, Vadodara, Bhavnagar, Surendranagar, and Gandhinagar. Until then, isolated rain activity will continue until the arrival of Southwest Monsoon over Ahmedabad which is anticipated to reach the city by June 16 or June 17.
