Since last few days, Ahmedabad and Indore are reeling under dry and hot weather. Both the cities are experiencing above normal maximum temperatures.
At present, the maximum temperature in Ahmedabad is settling at 42°C. Similarly, Indore recorded a maximum of 41.8°C. In fact, the minimum temperatures of both the cities are also settling a few notches above the normal levels.
There were only one or two occasions when the regions recorded pre-Monsoon showers. It was on May 21 and 22 that Ahmedabad witnessed light rain activity, whereas Indore observed good showers on May 23. But rains have now vanished from both the cities.
Similar weather conditions are expected to continue, leading to hot and uneasy weather conditions. The sky is likely to remain clear; there can be a few occasions when occasional cloud cover will be seen. However, no rain activity is anticipated.

These weather conditions can be attributed to hot and dry southwesterly winds blowing from the Rajasthan and Sindh region of Pakistan. Some areas of Madhya Pradesh and adjoining parts are also observing heatwave conditions.
According to Skymet Weather, pre-Monsoon rains will make a comeback by the end of the month around May 30-31. Though these rains will be light in intensity, but will offer that much needed relief to the residents. By the first week of June, intensification in these pre-Monsoon rains and thundershower activities are likely.
