Very warm and humid weather conditions have been prevailing in the state of Gujarat for quite some time. However, some light rains were observed in the eastern parts of the state, during the last 24 hours. Now, due to the presence of some major weather systems, heavy rains are in store for Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Banaskantha, and Vadodara.

In the last 24 hours, from 8:30 am on Saturday, Vadodara has recorded 30.4 mm of rainfall, followed by Deesa 18.7 mm and Rajkot 5.6 mm of rainfall.

According to Skymet Weather, a Low-Pressure Area is lying over Chhattisgarh and adjoining region. This system is tilting southwestwards and slowly moving in west/northwest directions. As this system is expected to persist for some more time, eastern parts of Gujarat may receive light to moderate rain and thundershowers along with strong winds during the next 48 hours. In fact, isolated places may observe heavy showers.

Places like Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Banaskantha, and Vadodara may experience heavy showers, while other places like Surat, Valsad, Navsari, Mehsana, Deesa and Surendranagar may get to see light rain and thundershowers for the next two days. The good news is these rains would be useful for the seeding of new crops and also in controlling the temperatures.

On the contrary, Saurashtra and Kutch region may have to wait for some more time to experience showers. Until then, these regions will witness dry and warm weather.
